Ryans Fight For Sight
Ryan Kent Nolder is a bright, charming 7 year old.
He is visually impaired and has the congenital eye condition of Optic Nerve Hypoplasia (ONH).ONH is caused as a result of the underdevelopment of the optic nerve. Even though the eye is healthy and the brain is healthy, the connection between the two is very weak and leaves the person with little to no usable vision. In fact, Ryan has no vision in his left eye and very limited vision in his right.

He is legally blind and he is currently learning Braille and working with a Certified Orientation and Mobility specialist to learn cane skills. ONH is an eye condition which, until recently, was diagnosed without any hope of improvement. There was no eye surgery or treatment that could reverse the damage….until now.
The treatment uses umbilical stem cells to regenerate the optic nerve. Once the healthy stem cells are infused into the patient, the cells regenerate the tissue and the optic nerve is strengthened. While vision is not perfect, all children who have received this treatment have shown vast improvement! It is important to note that stem cell from the umbilical cord do not compromise human life, the way that the embryonic stem cells would.
The cost of treatment, plane tickets, hotel and after care will cost around $60,000. We will be in China for one month. Dec 1 - 30.
